Drinking in the Apocalypse: We’re all in this together

Now that I’m developing more…segments? Article? Sections? I will be getting to them faster I think. With that in mind, welcome to a new one of those things. “Drinking in the Apocalypse!” Where we go over the extraordinarily bizarre things that I scavenged up during the first Shutdown and beyond.

This week we’re going to look at the “We’re all in this together!” I came up with this for obvious reasons, and it requires no further explanations. The concept had to be a Long Island Modification because it’s all in there just about. And who doesn’t need a long island to help get through this shit? We ended up with my favorite Long Island mod, a Tokyo Tea, then added OJ.
We’re all in this together #1 (Pint glass or 16oz jar with light ice)
  • 1/2 oz Orange Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz Passion Fruit Rum
  • 1/2 oz Tequila
  • 1/2 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 oz Midori
  • Splash Sprite
  • Fill OJ
Oh yes, there is a lot in there. That’s why you need to be light on the ice. I designed this drink for the To-Go jars; thusly, light ice would be stronger and not get watery on delivery. However, there was more than one version of this drink.
We’re all in this together #2 (Pint glass or 16oz jar with light ice)
  • 1/2 oz Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz Passion Fruit Rum
  • 1/2 oz Tequila
  • 1/2 oz Sour Apple Pucker
  • 1 oz Midori
  • Splash Sprite
  • Fill OJ
I called this the “we’re running out of everything” version. As we got to the final days of the Tavern, we just ran ourselves down on everything. Trying to keep some items from falling off the menu, we modified lots of recipes.
The “We’re all in this together” ended up being one of the best selling drinks on the Covid menu. It brought a laugh to quite a few people’s voices when they order it. I also loved pouring it because it was just an angry drink to make, plus I love the coloration.
(Also, if you were wondering, the glass is from a collection of glasses we made for people in the Warrior/Alchemist Guilds back in 2017ish time)
