Recently I visited a great place in Everett and wanted to share my experience. It started when I went into this place with the intent to have a flight of beers and maybe grab a growler to go. I ended up staying for 2 flights and 2 growlers, then went back in for the beer cave!
Toggle’s Bottle Shop is in downtown Everett, just off of the corner of Hewitt and Hoyt. I feel like this is the type of place that Everett needs to keep going. The drink selection and ambiance of this place are unparalleled. I talked with a representative of the company about a few things.
Originally opened by husband-and-wife team Colin and Danielle Lothrop in November 2017, Toggle’s Bottle Shop does not offer a food menu, other than pub mix and some light snack foods, and patrons are welcome to bring in any outside food from neighboring restaurants or bring-your-own-picnic. I wanted to know about the name and logo, it’s the cutest dog and a very cute name. The answer is adorable. “Toggle’s” is named after the couple’s late Shiba Inu “Toggle.” Today, Toggle’s little brother “Sugi” (also a Shiba Inu) can occasionally be spotted prancing around the premises. “Well-behaved dogs (and their people) are always welcome at Toggle’s. ” During my visit, several dogs came to the shop and they are very welcoming.
I was relieved that they were still open after the pandemic shutdowns and restrictions. I asked them about what it was like and how they are helping combat the spread of this virus.
” The COVID pandemic had a pronounced impact on our operations. For the initial few months, we operated as to-go only and implemented a personal shopper system to eliminate touchpoints. At this point, our taproom is open at 50% capacity and all tables are sanitized between guests.”
They continued with my favorite part of this place,
” We also have large garage door roll-up windows in the front to catch a breeze and increase ventilation to the space; you’ll find those are open on most nice days in the spring and summer. “
Toggle’s Bottle Shop is a craft beer bar and bottle shop. It offers 22 rotating taps of craft beer and hard cider with an extensive selection (700+) of craft beer, mead, kombucha, hard cider, and wine that can be enjoyed in the taproom or taken to go.
