The world according to Jeff Goldblum Season 1 Poster / Disney

Jeff Goldblum is a widely recognized actor and musician. His hometown even has a huge recognition day for him in mid-July. His wide variety of movies and music is more impressive than you probably know. I found this gem of a docuseries recently. After watching the series was shocked that I hadn’t heard of it before. Jeff Goldblum is a treasure and his want for understanding the varied topics is fun to watch. The World According to Jeff Goldblum is a 2019 American documentary streaming television series presented by Jeff Goldblum streaming on Disney+ from November 12, 2019.

“The premise of the show is, because it’s the world according to Jeff Goldblum, it’s me with all the information and experience that my life has entailed up till this point now plopping me I go the world of and exploration of one thing or another. It’s not as if I do some extra homework/research/bone up on it so that I tend to know something about it and then tell you about it. No, it’s not like that.”
— Jeff Goldblum, host

The first and only season to date explored topics such as denim, tattoos, and sneakers. He explores these topics in an attempt to understand the how and why behind the culture. He completely immerses himself into the subject and even tries his hand at a few of them. While I was watching this show, I found myself wanting more. The way he speaks about and explores trends while coming to almost profound conclusions about why people would collect sneakers, or get tattoos was mesmerizing. This series was nominated in 2020 for The Primetime Emmy Awards Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special.

The show was renewed for a second season. However, the pandemic put a hold on the second season after filming only 1 episode. It has been said that the topics will include things like fireworks. It is still unclear if the footage that was already filmed will be used in the new season. I highly recommend this series and am anticipating the second season.
